Privacy Policy — JukeWorld Radio
Last updated: 5 November 2026 · Controller: Juan Antonio Gestal Romaní (NIF 44839862M) · Contact: juan@gestal.es
JukeWorld Radio ("the app") is a client-only radio app for Android, Android Auto and Wear OS. It has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no server of its own. We do not collect, sell or share personal data.
What stays on your device
Your music tastes, stamps, favorites, listening history, song log and settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them. You can export them to a JSON file at any time (Settings → Export) and delete everything (Settings → Delete all my data). Uninstalling the app removes them too. If you export a file, you choose where it is saved, including your own cloud drive.
Music, not ads or talk (on-device analysis)
To keep the music going, the app listens for a few seconds to the station that is playing and to the next stations it prepares, and a small model that runs only on your phone (YAMNet, by Google) tells music from speech. The song titles that stations broadcast are also checked for ads. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere: it is analysed in memory and discarded. Stations that did not respond, broadcast ads or are talk radio are noted on your device only (with the date) so the roulette avoids them for a while; deleting your data removes this list too.
Third-party services the app contacts
When you use the app, your device connects directly to these services. They can see your IP address and the technical data of the request, as with any internet connection. We do not receive or store that information.
| Service | Why | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Radio Browser (radio-browser.info) | Finds radio stations and reports a station click | https://www.radio-browser.info |
| Radio stations' streaming servers | Play the audio you choose, and check a few seconds of the next stations the app prepares (about 130 KB each). Many broadcast over plain http. Stations may show you the title of the song playing | Each station's own policy |
| Wikipedia / Wikidata (Wikimedia Foundation) | Shows a short cultural summary of a country, in your language | https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers | Draw the map of places you visited. The area you look at is requested | https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy |
| Google Play services – Wear OS Data Layer | If you use the watch app, your phone and your own watch exchange what is playing and your commands (spin, like, pause). This stays between your two devices | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Assistant / Android Auto (optional) | If you ask by voice ("play Japanese rock on JukeWorld Radio"), Google turns your voice into text and passes that text to the app | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Spotify (optional) | Only if you tap "Search on Spotify" in the song log: the song title is opened in Spotify or its website | https://www.spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy/ |
The Data Saver mode avoids loading Wikipedia and map data unless you ask for it.
Permissions
- Internet / network state — to stream, to reconnect when the signal comes back and to detect Wi-Fi when "Wi-Fi only" is on.
- Foreground service (media playback) — to keep playing with the screen off and show the player controls in the notification shade and on the lock screen. The app does not ask for permission to send you notifications and never sends alerts or promotions.
- Wake lock — to keep the stream connected while playing.
The app does not request your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos or files. Station coordinates shown on the map come from the radio database, not from your device.
This website (gestal.es/jukeworld-radio)
- No cookies. This website does not use cookies, local storage for tracking, analytics, advertising pixels, social media plugins or third-party resources: fonts and images are served from this same site, and the only outside connections are the ones you start yourself with the radio demo. That is why there is no cookie banner.
- Live radio demo. Only when you tap the disc on the home page, your browser connects to Radio Browser (to find a station) and to that station's streaming server (to play it). Like any connection, they can see your IP address. Nothing is stored by this website, and this website sets no cookies.
- Server logs. Like any web server, the hosting provider may keep technical logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser) for security and to keep the service running. They are kept only as long as necessary and are not used to identify or profile you.
- Email. If you write to juan@gestal.es, your address and message are used only to answer you and are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Your rights (GDPR)
We do not hold any personal data about you: the app keeps everything on your device and nothing is tracked or sent to us. So there is nothing we can access, correct or delete on our side. You are in full control: export your data, delete it (Settings → Delete all my data) or uninstall the app. This complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD). If you have any question about privacy, write to juan@gestal.es. You can also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Content of radio stations
Stations are run by third parties. We do not control their content, which may include explicit language or advertising.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at https://gestal.es/jukeworld-radio/privacy/ with a new date.
